Job Description The Artificial Heart Frontiers Program (AHFP) , a multi-institution partnership between academia and industry, has secured investment from the Medical Research Future Fund to develop artificial hearts and related technologies. We have teamed with leading academic, healthcare and industry partners to launch a new program to develop the world’s most advanced artificial heart, and the next generation of cardiovascular technology to support all patients with heart failure. Griffith University’s involvement is to lead Haemocompatibility for all devices developed within the AHFP. The AHFP plans to scale up research and commercialisation programs to help shape the future of heart failure treatments using our revolutionary pipeline technologies. The Medical Device Engineer is a key position for the AHFP and will work within the Biorheology Research Laboratory at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University. This is a hands-on position and the successful candidate will lead quality systems implementation, supervise device appraisal, and develop test systems that mimic realistic physiological-use scenarios to ultimately facilitate potential regulatory approval of novel technologies. This is a full time, fixed term position (24-month contract, as part of a 5-year program) based at the Gold Coast campus. It is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples. Salary Range The base salary for Research Fellow Grade 1 is in the range $84,830 - $99,367 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $99,251 - $116,259 per annum.
