Senior Platform Engineer role will focus on elevating our platform into a sophisticated product that empowers engineering teams to independently access apply platform resources, reducing dependencies and accelerating development cycles. With the primary objective to architect, develop, and coordinate the management of a robust, scalable, and efficient platform, you will lead collaborative efforts with delivery teams to improve and operate our cloud-based platforms, utilising cloud technology ( GCP, AWS/Azure ) services to enhance the platform's capabilities, ensuring it is secure, reliable, and efficient infrastructure. Your day to day will consist of Own the design and development of a scalable and robust platform infrastructure that meets the diverse needs of engineering teams. Orchestrate the automation of platform management and deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Apply tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure through code, ensuring consistency and repeatability. Lead efforts in containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes to streamline application deployment and management. Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions and optimise platform performance to ensure reliability and high output. Caring the platform as a product by deeply understanding customer needs—who they are, what they require, and providing alternative solutions when existing ones fall short. Your focus will be on continuously enhancing the platform to ensure it effectively meets customer needs and expectations. What makes you perfect for the role? Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (GCP Certified Professional) plus hands on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and tools. Skills in designing, implementing, and managing data pipelines using tools such as Apache Beam, Google BigQuery, and Dataflow Sophisticated proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automating platform management and deployment. Comfortable familiarity with AI and machine learning applications. Deep experience with Terraform or CloudFormation for managing infrastructure through code. Extensive knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes). Strong background in implementing and applying monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver) and techniques to ensure platform reliability and performance. Experience with encryption, IAM, network security, and incident response, along with familiarity with industry-specific compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CVE, OWASP), and an in-depth understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements for cloud platforms. Demonstrated strong problem solving skills together with excellent ability to collaborate with multi-functional business teams and effectively communicate technical concepts, in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of how to manage and optimise cloud costs, leveraging GCP’s billing and monitoring tools to ensure efficient use of resources. Optus is a place where we let you do you.
