Your opportunity This is a Full Time Fixed Term Queensland Rail employment contract to the period of 30th June 2026. In this role, you will assist in the construction, commissioning and operational support of HV overhead line equipment (OHLE). Ensuring the safety and efficiency of our extensive rail network. If you have a passion for rail systems, an eye for detail, and a desire to grow your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment, we want to hear from you This role offers a mix of responsibilities and will be supported through comprehensive coaching and mentoring: Identify and report risks and issues associated with safety, environment, quality, and progress of works. Initiate and maintain on-site liaison and relationships with internal business areas and various other authorities that are involved with the contract works. Maintain records of all contract works including weekly reporting, quality assurance documentation and specific technical records. Provide technical and on-call support for the reliable operation of the traction network. Understand and comply with the Queensland Rail Projects function applicable governance, principles, business rules and practices. Inspect, test and commission system alterations and installations works ensuring compliance with Electrical Safety Legislation, Traction Power standards and specifications. We also welcome diverse experiences that can bring new perspectives to our team. Some experience working within traction systems, equipment, construction and testing standards. Knowledge of traction safe working principles, practices and procedures, including testing, commissioning practices and procedures and traction alteration design. Skill in interpreting and extracting data from OHLE engineering drawings and specifications. Ability to perform OHLE Construction Inspection activities. Demonstrated ability to work within quality assurance principals and procedures in administration of OHLE under a quality system specification. Knack for risk management identification and mitigation to ensure all legislation, regulations and practices are managed. Qualifications: Candidates at the time of application will be able to demonstrate that they currently hold the below qualifications and meet the employment eligibility requirements: Hold a Professional Bachelor of Engineering Electrical/Electronic qualification which is recognised under the Washington Accord or demonstrated by ‘an entry to practice competently’ having been awarded to you by Engineers Australia and accepted by Queensland Rail. Due to the timeline of the requirements for this role, we will only be able to accept candidates with unrestricted eligibility to the be employed within Australia. Hours and location: Office/depot location will be at Yeerongpilly, Brisbane. Typically work 38 hours a week Monday to Friday however overtime, weekend work and on-call availability will be required, you will be compensated for these activities as required. You should be ready to quickly adapt from office-based tasks to being on call and attending various sites to address incidents as they arise, this may be outside of standard business hours/weekends.
