Tesla is seeking a Technical Business Development Manager to support the growth of Residential Energy product sales across the Asia Pacific region. You will be a part of the Residential and Commercial Energy Sales team responsible for the sale and operational success of Tesla's residential energy products. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. The role will be at the forefront of new products and new market launches. You'll be required to wear various hats, collaborating across teams such as product and compliance engineering, sales and business development, business operations, material planning, technical management, and field installation. As well as communicating with our B2B customers and industry stakeholders to ensure successful operationalization of new products, features and market launches. The team is looking for someone with a strong understanding of solar and energy storage, along with solid electrical engineering or electrical installation skills and in-depth knowledge of code requirements and installation practices for residential and commercial applications. This position can be based in either the Melbourne or Sydney office. Provide technical support to the sales and business development team in our core markets and support our expansion across Asia Pacific Support field trials and localize technical content for deployment of new Residential Energy products Identify training needs, develop training material, organize and deliver technical training sessions for internal teams and for the network of installation partners Develop strategy, processes, and metrics to enable successful new product launches, features and services Report to leadership on launch status, critical issues, and strategic recommendations Develop internal business cases to prioritise product development and define product road-mapping Support the sales and business development team to scope new market entries to ensure technical suitability with our products Work with cross-functional stakeholders and customers to surface requirements, dependencies, and priorities Identify product opportunities to further market share and improve customer experience Identify and support the sales team to bring new offers, programs and concepts to the market, such as Virtual Power Plans, PPAs and leasing offers Represent Tesla through participation in industry working groups and to help influence policy development Provide best-in-class product and design support to the installer and installer facing teams A degree or relevant experience in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical), other technical discipline, or comparable installation/electrical experience 3 Years Experience in product/project management or a similar role in a technical environment Experience in the energy sector, PV solar or energy storage industry preferred In-depth knowledge of distributed energy resource technologies and applications, such as solar, energy efficiency, demand response, storage and virtual power plans (a strong plus) Experience in the introduction of new hardware products and software features Deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid A relentless drive to make things happen Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to operate independently to solve complex, ambiguous product/operational problems Strong attention to detail and ability to manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment Experience digesting and translating technical and legal requirements and policy/regulatory information for commercial applicability Bi-lingual candidates (Japanese, Mandarin, or Thai a strong plus)
