Moreton Bay College's Early Learning Centre provides a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for boys and girls. Moreton Bay College Early Learning Centre is seeking to appoint a creative, dedicated Early Childhood Teacher, who has a genuine passion for child-centred learning and a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework. You will be working in our refurbished Early Learning Centre (www.mbcelc.qld.edu.au) where there is a genuine connection to nature with large green spaces providing plenty of room for play and exploration. The Early Childhood Teacher is required to Plan for authentic extended inquiry in a child centred learning environment. Ensure that a developmentally appropriate program is planned, implemented and evaluated for each child. Maintain effective communication with the parent/s of each child in that group. Work in partnership with families to support children’s learning outcomes and report to parents. Comply with all Government requirements regarding staff working in long day care centres. Understand and work according to the Early Learning Centre’s policy. Attend regular Early Years staff meetings. Manage children’s behaviour positively and maintain a healthy learning environment. Direct the duties of additional Educators working in the learning space. Ensure a safe environment is provided for the children. Ensure the health and safety of all children in their care. SKILLS AND ABILITIES The Early Childhood Teacher needs to display the ability to Articulate their philosophy of learning. Inspire, influence and motivate. Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues. Provide challenging, student-centred approaches to learning. Communicate and interact openly and effectively. Use technologies effectively in the teaching/learning program. Describe their practices in planning, implementing, monitoring, assessment and evaluation. Display well-developed oral and written communication skills. Broad knowledge of child development and current early childhood trends and practices. This Early Childhood Teacher must also be A self-directed learner Familiar with current Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards. Able to explain how a Reggio Emilia philosophy may influence the learning environment in early childhood contexts. Willing to contribute to curriculum development. Flexible in approach and thinking. Passionate about teaching and learning Empathetic to the needs of children and families. Be able to work as part of a team. Able to support the values and Christian ethos of this Uniting Church College. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The Early Childhood Teacher Must hold an appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent based on ACECQA guidelines. Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program would be an advantage. Should preferably have experience teaching in Queensland schools or an understanding of the Queensland system. Must work within the guidelines of the AITSL professional standards for teachers. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be registered with Queensland College of Teachers. Must be a qualified Early Childhood Teacher Must have current Working with Children (or positive exemption) card. A current first aid certificate. Current Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates. CONDITIONS AND SALARY Salary and conditions are in keeping with the Early Childhood Teacher classification under the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement. An ECT in the ELC is entitled to 8 weeks annual leave for each 12 months of service. Salary range is $85,194.47 - $124,625.14 per annum dependent on years of experience.
