Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2025 school year. Suitable applicants will ideally have experience and knowledge in teaching lower secondary HASS as well as senior school HASS courses such as Modern History, Geography, and Careers and Enterprise. Experience in teaching students with additional needs and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) is highly desirable. Suitable applicants should exhibit a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. They should also possess the ability to plan for school improvement using and responding to all data sources, ensuring curriculum and pedagogical development is current and ongoing. Suitable applicants should be flexible, adaptive, and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. Christmas Island DHS is located 360 km southwest of Java and 2600 km northwest of Perth. We cater for approximately 300 students from Pre-primary to Year 12 on our main site and more than 20 Kindergarten students at the Tom Patterson Kindergarten Centre. Our school is well resourced which means class sizes are kept small and extra support is provided to classes in the areas of literacy, numeracy, information and communications technology, and pastoral care.
