Seeking skilled Legal Policy Officers with knowledge of ExCo in the legislation process. Indigeco Recruitment is supporting a major Federal Government Department in recruiting an EL1 Legal Policy/Legislation officer for a non-ongoing contract or a S-26 transfer. Only Australian Citizens with a minimum Baseline clearance are eligible to apply for this position. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Environmental Regulation section. Managing the sunsetting review of the Airports (Environment Protection) Regulations 1997, (policy development, including organising stakeholder consultations, responding to feedback, and instructing the Office of Parliamentary Counsel. Providing legal support to the Airport Environment Officer (AEO) Network and Environmental Regulation section, including drafting agreements and other legal documents, providing technical legal advice to inform decision-making; and preparing requests for legal advice. Developing policies, guidelines and other materials to support administration of the Act and Regulations. Providing legal policy input to policy papers, meeting briefs and submissions. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated experience in legislative drafting, reform processes, and policy development. Knowledge of ExCo in the legislation process is mandatory. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including legal and policy drafting. An ability to quickly analyse and assimilate complex technical, legal, and policy information, identify key issues, and translate this into policy advice. Tertiary legal qualification is highly desirable. An understanding of, or experience in, the aviation industry, regulation, or environmental management practices is desirable but not essential.
