About the Role An exciting pre-opening opportunity exists for a Director of Sales to join our team at Hyatt House South Melbourne. This role offers the unique chance to be part of launching the Hyatt House brand in Australia, with the hotel scheduled to open at the beginning of 2025. In this role, you will play a key role in driving the hotel's revenue growth and market share. Working closely with the General Manager, you will develop and execute strategic sales plans, manage the sales team, and ensure that sales targets are met or exceeded. Responsibilities Some of the key responsibilities include: - Developing business plans and targets to maximize the hotel's revenue in conjunction with the General Manager. - Establishing and achieving monthly targets and key performance indicators. - Conducting sales activities to support targets set in the hotel business plan and/or reforecasted revenue targets. - Driving and managing revenues in the Corporate and Leisure rooms budget and increasing market share. - Conducting Business Development Sales calls weekly across all hotel segments. - Effectively marketing the hotel, creating packages and promotions to drive leisure and business travel. - Collaborating with the Area Digital Marketing and Social Media team to enhance online travel and engagement. - Supporting key distribution channels, including agency and OTA markets. - Acting as a brand ambassador for Hyatt House South Melbourne. - Working with the General Manager to address guest complaints. - Maximizing profitability of the sales department through strategic yield management. - Managing the Sales budget effectively. - Building relationships and key partnerships with clients and the local community in South Melbourne. - Recruiting, inducting, and training sales team members. - Ensuring all sales team members are productive and meeting targets. - Ensuring effective communication across all areas of the hotel to meet guest requirements. Qualifications: Qualifications - Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is highly preferred. - Strong sales acumen with a proven track record in revenue management and sales strategy. - Exceptional leadership and team management skills. - Hotel pre-opening experience is highly preferred. - Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans. - Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with all stakeholders. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset. - Knowledge of local market sales regulations and compliance requirements.
