Software Engineer (Ab Initio Developer) You are passionate about modernising the HR ecosystem through the strategic and secure management of AB Initio ETL data products, pipelines, and databases. We are currently undergoing one of Australia's largest digital transformations, with the establishment of an Engineering function within HR. Do work that matters In the role of a Software Engineer, you'll be utilising the AB Initio ETL tool to design, create, and manage various components of Ab Initio. This includes GDE, Web services, Continuous Graphs, Micrographs, and the usage of Conduct>IT (Plans). You'll be expected to bring your proven experience and expertise with the AB Initio ETL tool to the table to develop, deploy, and operate the platform. Taking ownership and accountability for both functional and non-functional design. You'll work within a team of Engineers to create innovative solutions that unlock value and modernise technology designs. Furthermore, you'll embody a continuous improvement mindset, taking technical ownership of key ETL data transformation and pipeline assets in your project interactions. See yourself in our team The HR Technology function operates within an Agile methodology, collaborating with our HR business to plan, prioritise, and deliver high-value HR and technology objectives. As part of the Middleware, ETL, and Storage Chapter, your role will involve working with data-producing systems such as Workday, ADP, and multiple HR systems. A typical day will involve defining, extracting, transforming, and sharing data to downstream systems. We're interested in hearing from people who: Can design and implement ETL processing for Batch and near real-time services. Can develop and maintain ETL processes to ingest raw data from multiple sources, including JSON and XML files. Can design and implement transformation logic to convert raw data into structured formats for databases and downstream integrations. Can automate data ingestion and transformation processes using scheduling tools. Can monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure high performance and reliability. Can design application logical database requirements and implement physical solutions. Can develop back-end database code to support ETL activities. Can collaborate with business and technical teams to design and build crucial integrations and enhancements. Can advise business owners on strategic direction and application solution design. Tech skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team. Proficiency in Ab Initio - GDE, Web Services, Continuous Graphs, Micrographs, and usage of Conduct>IT. Working experience in Ab Initio BRE (Business Rule Environment) or ACE (Application Configuration Environment). Knowledge of Ab Initio backend commands such as AIR and m commands, along with Unix shell scripting, is required. Familiarity with any database such as Oracle, MySQL, etc., is beneficial. Must possess knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modelling. Responsible for driving the architecture of a project, including authoring functional and design specifications, ensuring scalability, testing, quality data flow, and interface.
