As custodians of the data storage security and recoverability, they collaborate with platform engineering squads and partners, to enhance system reliability, performance, and scalability, through the implementation of DevOps & SRE practices. With on-prem data centres and Public Cloud partnerships, our Storage and Data Protection Crew are responsible for the secure delivery and operation of our Storage and Data Protection services. Your Role You are an effective leader with a passion for cloud storage data protection. You will ring experience across serverless computing, data protection and infrastructure solutioning as Principal level engineer, and be pivotal to delivering on our strategic objectives. As a Principal Platform Engineer - Data Protection for Cloud Storage, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and maintaining robust data protection solutions, specifically for cloud storage environments. Partnering with multi-disciplinary and cross functional squads, you will provide technical leadership, drive quality engineering practices and ensure appropriate governance, compliance and risk mitigating measures are fulfilled. Your duties may include but will not be confined to; Design and implementation of scalable, secure data protection solutions for cloud storage platforms (AWS, Azure). Develop and maintain data encryption, backup, recovery, and data masking to secure stored data. Implement and enforce security protocols and standards, including SSL/TSL, SSH, and IPsec. Collaborate with technical, risk and governance teams to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies. Identify and lead opportunities for automated incident remediation. Lead incident response efforts and manage security operations to ensure swift resolution of data security issues. Conduct Risk Assessment audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering an environment of curiosity, continuous improvement, innovation and psychological safety. Stay abreast of emerging changes, opportunities, threats and technologies in Cloud Data Storage. Your Skills and Experience As a Principal Platform Engineer, you a will demonstrate expert knowledge and SME technical skills across Data Protection practices and governance, on hybrid storage environments. In addition, we're seeking candidates who demonstrate: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or related field. Expert knowledge of cloud storage platforms (AWS, Azure) and alongside extensive experience delivering quality cloud storage architecture. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java or C# and scripting languages, ideally PowerShell or Bash. In-depth understanding of data protection practices, including encryption, back up, recovery, and data masking for storage solutions. Familiarity with security standards and practices such as SSL/TLS, SSH and IPSec. Proven track record of leading complex projects and managing cross-functional teams. Excellent problem-solving skills, analysis and mitigation skills. Clear and effective communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and crews. Strong influencing and skills, and the ability to drive positive outcomes across projects. Technical Certifications, such as CISSP, CCSP, or AWS Certified Security Specialist are highly desirable.
