Job Description About the role The Principal/Lead System Engineer is a senior leadership role within EOS Defence Systems and is responsible for solving problems using disciplined engineering techniques (e.g. software, mechanical, electronics, system, testing, project etc) to assure and advise on the development and/or delivery of products. The Lead System Engineer will possess a deep technical and industry knowledge with the ability to influence and guide company direction, ensuring strategic alignment. In this role you would also be responsible for developing products and designs that support the product development and product goals of EOS DS. In this role you will: Represent EOSDS as the Subject Matter Expert in systems engineering both internally and externally to the organisation. Lead systems engineering teams to ensure defined requirements are delivered within the specified time frame and exercise authority and control of the team. Work across multiple projects to apply deep technical knowledge and understanding of systems engineering and ASDEFON Provide mentorship and guidance to lead and senior engineers sharing industry experience and best practice Develop, review and champion the system engineering process within EOS DS. Design the elements that are required for baselining, modification and enhancement of systems. Configure the system to be built and provide input and assurance of the Engineering and Production Bill of Materials (BOM). Undertake test and evaluation activities on systems to verify and sign-off all design requirements. Champion the use of rigorous system development methods to ensure safe, secure, and reliable systems. Provide technical rigour and oversight on the development and maintenance of engineering artefacts throughout the engineering lifecycle. This includes activities and documentation associated with requirements definition and management; traceability; engineering change; verification and validation; and sustainment. Develop and implement systems engineering processes. Proactively identify and address engineering risks. Engage key stakeholders and subject matter experts across technical engineering and specialty areas to understand the concept of operations and user needs to elicit and decompose system requirements. Adhere to and ensure understanding and compliance with company procedures to achieve a safe and secure work environment. Desired Skills and Experience Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in complex technical development and integration projects. Minimum 3 years supervision experience leading a team across the engineering lifecycle through concept development, design, integration, test, sustainment and delivery. Advanced data analysis and network model development skills to conduct and direct significant data analysis and theoretical model development. Experience developing and executing against key systems engineering artefacts including systems engineering management plans and verification and validation plans. Broad understanding of industrial control, operational control, and business systems. Strong ability to quickly understand and articulate technologies, solutions, and architectures outside the software technical discipline. A growth mindset with the ability to recognise and seize opportunities. Previous experience working on Defence programs, particularly battle management, command and control systems, software development or acquisition programs is desirable. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Engineering (any specialty, excluding civil). Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering is highly desirable. Registration on, or eligible to gain registration on the NER as a Professional Engineer is required.
