The purpose of this position is to perform tasks of a civil engineering nature, as directed, within the Planning team for Council's Water and Waste Services directorate. The role requires extensive knowledge of water and sewerage infrastructure and operational procedures. You will develop strategies and undertake infrastructure planning for growth in the Fraser Coast Region, undertake technical reviews of development assessments as required, critical analysis of water and sewerage networks, and other network related matters. Additionally, you will carry out detailed investigations of technical issues with a focus on problem solving to achieve best value outcomes using appropriate techniques. This role will see you working with operational stakeholders, demonstrating your in depth understanding of water and sewerage networks and ability to communicate technical concepts to a diverse audience. You have the proven ability to write strategic documents and business cases, likewise your ability to engage confidently and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the Council. A working knowledge of relevant legislation and codes relating to water and sewerage planning and specific knowledge about Planning Guidelines for Water Supply and Sewerage are required. You have excellent oral and written communication skills and ideally you will have experience, preferably within Local Government or Consultancies, and demonstrated passion to make a difference to the community will see you being successful in this role. Additionally, you will understand networks, strategic planning of water/sewer networks and can do modelling. Bachelor's in civil engineering or similar is essential as is RPEQ registration. You must be already in the process of obtaining or have made an application to obtain your RPEQ. You will have extensive knowledge of water and sewage treatment with strategic thinking ability and strong focus on problem solving.
