About The Role This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our innovative and dynamic organisation while developing your legal career in the mining and resources sector. Primarily, you will be enabled to: provide strategic, practical, and commercial legal advice for subcontract formation, delivery and management; amend subcontract terms to align with head contracts; and negotiate contract terms with subcontractors and suppliers, working closely with our procurement teams. Additionally, the successful candidate will: Assist with head contract review and advice under supervision Develop and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, suppliers and business partners Maintain and update contract registers and advise in relation to personal property securities registration Deliver targeted commercial, contracts, and compliance training Proactively manage claims and disputes Support ethics and safety investigations as required You will thrive in a supportive team environment, working alongside driven individuals with diverse and complementary skillsets. About You Law degree and admission to legal practice are essential requirements for this position, with a current practicing certificate being highly preferred. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience as an early career lawyer, demonstrating a solid foundation in legal practice. This experience can be gained through work in a private practice law firm, an in-house legal department, or a combination of both. Such exposure would provide a well-rounded base level understanding of various legal environments and client needs. Experience in contract drafting and negotiation, particularly in the resources or construction industry, is highly desirable for this role. This specialised knowledge would be a significant asset in handling industry-specific legal matters. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, as these are crucial for effective client and supplier interactions, matter management, and collaboration with colleagues. Additionally, strong commercial acumen and the ability to work under pressure are vital attributes, enabling the successful candidate to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice while managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
