We’re changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes: • 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden • 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry • 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa • up to six new substation sites. This exciting project has commenced construction, and we are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join the team based in the Brisbane office in Bowen Hills. What will a day in this role look like: Managing numerous teams of design consultants to provide timely delivery of all temporary works designs required to facilitate the construction of the permanent design. Acting as the Client interface and Design Representative for relevant External Stakeholders e.g. TMR, Local Councils etc. Development of technical drawings for WAF designs, road widenings, intersection upgrades, ERSED, waterways crossings, access tracks and tower pads. Reviewing designs in line with project specific technical requirements along with statutory, legislative and construction and operational requirements. Driving innovation to deliver practical and sustainable design solutions. Facilitating the resolution of any design issues from a technical and/or construction perspective including External Stakeholder comment closeout Formulating scopes of works, running tender processes, and evaluating and selecting preferred design consultants. Forecasting and reporting to Senior Management. Leading and mentoring all direct reports within your team. What are we looking for you to bring to the team: You will possess a track record that is second to none in the market with a proven history that demonstrates you are a major influencer across a variety of design disciplines. Experience in successfully designing major and complex infrastructure projects. Strong commitment to Quality – adherence to prescribed systems and workflows (Teambinder/ In Eight experience preferred) High attention to detail and organisation skills - setting up and maintaining registers and dashboards to track progress of design packages (time/ cost/ quality) Safety in Design (SiD), Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and So Far As Is Reasonably Practical (SFAIRP) experience. Experience with setting up and managing Design Consultant Contracts. Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant discipline. Minimum 10 years design experience in the related field. RPEQ and/ or CPEng is preferred or evidence of working towards RPEQ/ Chartered status.
