Our Opportunity Work location: Perth based (Redcliffe) Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri) In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Fortescue Zero Heavy Industry programs whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet. Based out our new Redcliffe design office and reporting to the Heavy Industry Mechanical and Design engineering manager, we are presently looking for an experienced principal or lead engineer to join our team. Key Responsibilities Lead a growing team of electrical designer and design engineers in a safe, timely and sustainable manner. Currently 12 designers and engineers. Mentor the team and coordinate activity with other engineering disciplines. Be responsible for recruitment, performance management and development goal settings to continue grow and build a high performing team. Prioritise and deliver work to meet stretch targets and in a fast-paced environment. Provide technical guidance and resource requirements to the program management team regarding all electrical design works Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives. Interpret, manage and approve engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes. Resolve technical and design issues to ensure quality electrical design outputs. Develop standard design processes and ensure processes are adopted consistently across different product programs. Manage electrical CAD software tools and systems Provide guidance regarding budgets for team development, software and tools. Liaise with a range of key stakeholders regarding all technical aspects of projects. Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager, including work progress, risks and priorities. Qualifications and Experience BSc level electrical or mechatronic engineering degree. At least 10-15 years of experience in electrical design engineering. Electrical product development experience combined with medium production volume environment. Experience with electrical CAD design packages (2D and 3D) and PDM and PLM systems. Understanding a product lifecycle phases, configuration management and basics of systems engineering and electrical compliance requirements. Proven leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years managing design teams. Comfortable in the role of subject matter expert. Experience in leading a team of professionals. Experience with design, manufacturing, and operation of engineering products. The ability to coach and mentor qualified engineers. Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidisciplinary teams. High commitment to safety. Experience with ERP work management. Experience in preparing detailed scope of works. Experience in participating or coordinating in the purchasing tender process. Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process. Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team. Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence. Results driven, responsible and accountable. Conflict management and communications skills. Skilled in problem solving rapidly.
