The Monitoring & Observability team is responsible for the delivery, ongoing management, and support of monitoring & ServiceNow platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, ServiceNow, IBM Netcool, ITM, SCOM and ThousandEyes. About the role Reporting into the Platform Manager - Monitoring and Observability, the Senior Systems Engineer will aim to provide technology services to support, develop and maintain the Monitoring & Observability platforms of the IT infrastructure in accordance with agreed service levels. You will also contribute toward the development of the Monitoring & Observability strategy and architecture as well as support, develop and maintain the portfolio in accordance with agreed service levels. You will maintain strategic partner relationships with key vendors and customer stakeholders and the management of contractors and consultants working on projects. Finally, be involved in the management of incoming projects and workloads and estimations. Your key responsibilities will include: Maintain industry level technical knowledge and expertise. Establish and maintain relevant technical standards and processes. Provide a strong focus on successful technology change and delivery. Provide quality delivery and operations to technology portfolio. Ensure performance monitoring and optimisation, and continuous delivery improvement of relevant technologies. Provide technical leadership for all aspects of delivery and operations. Ensure effective transition of projects into support. Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Assist in the determination of, and ensure the implementation of selected Monitoring & Observability products and tools To ensure SLA KPI's are understood and met. Establish practical quality and process measures for key work practices in the team. Develop and maintain strong networks and relationships with industry contacts and assess leading practice and successful implementation approaches. Provide vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the monitoring and maintenance of outsource agreements and project delivery to agreed service levels and timeframes. Assist in the establishment of team specific strategy and solutions that are aligned to the overall IT strategy. Assist in the selection of and deployment of new technologies which provide business benefit to the organisation. Identify opportunities for IT contribution to business improvement. Maintain an awareness of tactics, environment and trends in the retail business and within Coles. Identify opportunities to improve systems functionality to address business issues. Proactive approach to BAU tasks and continuous improvement. About you & your skills Proven years of experience architecting, building, and managing Splunk & AppDynamics. Extensive experience in AiOps, TechOps, Intelligent automation Advanced understanding of all aspects of the broader operational environment (ie. processes, procedures, associated toolsets, operating systems, etc.) Ability to supervise contractors & consultants for daily operations. Ability to provide work estimation for new projects and workloads. Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, AWS) Proven capabilities in vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the monitoring and maintenance of outsource agreements and project delivery to agreed service levels and timeframes Commercial Skills and Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in IT Certifications in Splunk and AppDynamics In depth expertise in applicable IT processes and technologies Ability to lead Project design and delivery and manage difficult technical issues across the technology portfolio Ability to innovate and provide efficient delivery and operational processes Ability to understand business and IT strategy, environment and trends across multiple technologies Strong self-management skills Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve outcomes Strong vendor management and vendor collaboration Relevant retail business experience Demonstrated awareness in applicable IT change and problem management processes Excellent interpersonal Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service and customer relationship skills Application of the Coles Group values and behaviours We are looking for a highly capable Senior lead who is enthusiastic about delivering positive outcomes.
