Position Information Prairiewood High School is a Year 7 to 12 comprehensive, co–educational and partially academically selective school of 1300 students. The school caters for a diverse student population with 1% of Aboriginal students and 87% of students from a wide range of non–English speaking backgrounds, including over 100 refugee students. The school has four Special Education classes. There are 60 academically selective students in each year group. In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to lead a diverse TAS (Technological & Applied Studies) faculty in the development and implementation of differentiated teaching and learning programs, including new curriculum reform, to engage, challenge and inspire a wide range of learners. 2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as part of the school executive team to drive quality, evidence-based teaching initiatives related to the school’s strategic improvement plan. 3. Proven leadership skills and personal qualities to build and nurture a positive faculty culture that supports authentic relationships with all stakeholders. General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
