Teacher Food Technology - Ashcroft High School — The Rocks, Sydney

Position Information Ashcroft High School [AHS] has an enrolment of over 700, including 70% LBOTE and 15% students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. The school receives equity funding to support economic and social disadvantage. AHS has at its core a well-developed sense of vision and purpose, from which the Whole Person is at the centre supported by various interconnecting layers [the School Plan]. This focus means all aspects of human development are equally acknowledged and developed in order to assist comprehensive educational outcomes. The young person is at the centre, surrounded by high-level teaching and learning - the NSW Quality Teaching framework - and is embedded in practice since 2004. All programs are interconnected to pedagogical practice, ensuring links are consistent to whole-school success. Cross-faculty teams support each other in this work. AHS has a well-developed kitchen Food and Beverage facility. The school has a Health Faculty with 6 specialist health staff, which supports students and families together with other specialist school groups. An Ashcroft Research Centre supports innovation and practice. Selection Criteria 1. Approval to teach Food Technology 2. Passionate desire about teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to Food Technology and related areas of learning for young people. 3. Strong personal and interpersonal skills, with an ability to embrace young people from different starting points in learning, and equally work within a most supportive professional school environment. 4. Be prepared to seek opportunities to grow professionally, and a desire to take advantage of the school’s high-level professional and research-based practice. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
