Position Information John Purchase Public School is situated in Cherrybrook, in north-western Sydney, has a diverse population of approximately 600 students, currently 23 classes. 80% of families are from 30 non-English speaking backgrounds, predominately Chinese and Indian. The school provides strong academic foundations and has established an excellent reputation within the community for its quality teaching programs, breadth of extracurricular opportunities, dedicated teachers and outstanding student outcomes. Specialist programs offered include high potential and gifted education classes, reading and numeracy support, English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) and support teachers for learning. Demonstrated ability or commitment to effectively managing a primary school library using the Oliver Library Management System, including budget and resource management. Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents and the wider community. Ability to promote and manage a library that functions as a learning hub for the school and engages, inspires and extends all learners. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. Special Notes If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
