2nd / 3rd Year Engineering Student - Qld Gov't - Part time during semester & full time hours during Uni holidays. 12 months 2 x 12 month extension Great opportunity to join a Qld Government Department as a Student Engineer working on Traffic Investigations. Position will be available for up to 12 months on a temporary basis with 2 x 12 month extension options (pending performance etc) and is based in Nerang on the Gold Coast. Offering Part-time 2-3 days per week during semesters and full-time during Uni holidays, Candidates will be required to be currently enrolled in a second or third year of an Engineering degree or dual-degree equivalent. Managed under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer, responsibilities in the Traffic Engineer Practice Team include: Investigate, analyse and review traffic and road safety issues and solutions on the state-controlled network Contribute to the Road Safety Minor Works program to ensure best value for money with road safety treatments within the region Contribute to Road Safety Mass Action Plans, Safer Roads Sooner and Black Spot Program project proposals Provide specialist technical advice and assistance in traffic engineering and road safety to other officers; including traffic investigation, safety programs, static traffic control signage and line marking. Communicate, verbally and in writing to stakeholders, information or advice on traffic operations, including the preparation of technical reports, and replies to the public or to Ministerial correspondence. Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects. Mandatory Requirements: Currently enrolled in second or third year of an Engineering degree or dual-degree equivalent. Available to work part time hours during semester and full time hours (37.5 hours per week) during Univesity break. Criminal History Screening must be undertaken by the successful candidate.
