About the Role As a Risk Assessment & Control Design Specialist in our Retail Risk Strategy & Transformation team, you'll play a key role in supporting Retail businesses to optimally manage their risk and control environment across end-to-end processes. Role Location: Melbourne VIC Role Type: Full time role, 12 Months Fixed Term Contract What will your day look like? This role is accountable for: Working in a small squad to partner with the business and assurance team to undertake an end-to-end review of key customer and business processes, assessing risk and identifying opportunities to improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of the control environment Undertake current state assessment of operational risk and compliance obligations, identifying and mapping controls (key controls and process-level controls) to effectively mitigate risk Conduct a comprehensive risk review and analysis of end-to-end process, identifying improvement opportunities to optimise the control environment (including a focus on efficiency through automation, simplification and uplift) Assess the alignment of existing controls with control objectives to determine control design uplift opportunities Support the design, development and implementation of business controls (and other process efficiency uplift opportunities) aligned to design principles Provide the business with tangible insights (including industry insights) and recommendations for consideration to improve effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the end-to-end control environment Provide insights, identify trends and make recommendations regarding risks and controls Mature the risk management ecosystem, including proactively identifying internal/external influences. Drive improvement in risk capability/culture/awareness and promote operational risk management as a core capability across businesses What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: Hands-on experience in risk management or compliance Deep experience across Finance and Banking preferably within Retail Banking Self-driven leadership and team building skills Courage and commitment to drive change and challenge the status quo Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build relationships through a collaborative approach Project management skills, ability to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional/risk-based manner Utilise analytical insights and data to identify opportunities to balance risk and help drive critical business decisions. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Governance experience in/from the Financial Services industry or from other large organisations Experience and use of Agile delivery principles and practices using the Atlassian suite of products, JIRA, Confluence etc. You're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
