This is a specialist team that prosecutes serious complaints against health care practitioners and conducts related reinstatement and appeal proceedings. About the role Legal Officers III-IV are responsible for the carriage of varied and complex legal prosecution practices and are required to appear as advocates in appropriate matters, as well as instructing Counsel. The role requires the ability to provide high quality legal advice in an efficient manner. To learn more about the position, please view the Role Description here. About you The role requires a lawyer who is experienced in managing a varied and complex legal practice with competing timeframes, and who also has advocacy experience and the ability to appear in contested hearings. They will have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to write clear and high- quality reports, and will be able to use their analytical abilities to solve problems and bring a collaborative and positive attitude to the team and the work. Essential Requirements Australian lawyer with a current NSW practicing certificate and existing Australian work rights. Experience managing a legal practice with competing timeframes (preferably in a prosecution area) in a high-pressure environment. The HCCC has a unique and critical part to play in maintaining the integrity of the NSW health system. As such, it is an essential requirement that all prospective employees are able to carry out their duties in an honest and consistent way, with uncompromising adherence to strong ethical principles and values.
