The role: The Administration Officer within the Staffing Services Unit at John Hunter Hospital is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring the seamless staffing of adult medical and surgical wards. Working in collaboration with Nurse Unit Managers, In-Charge Nurses, and Clinical Support Officers, you'll play a crucial role in allocating short-term and alternate staff to meet daily staffing demands. This involves utilising your strong decision-making skills to prioritise staffing needs and effectively communicating assignments to casual staff members. Under the mentorship of Michelle Curry (NUM), you will operate autonomously within a supportive team environment where professional growth and teamwork are highly valued. Your responsibilities will include managing the staffing database, processing leave requests and payroll, and handling administrative correspondence to maintain operational efficiency. This role operates on two shifts: AM (0600-1430) and PM (1400-2230), spanning seven days a week, including public holidays, reflecting the unit's commitment to continuous service delivery.
