About the role Reporting to the Superintendent - Technical Services this position is responsible for leading the Open Pit Drill & Blast Engineering team in delivering: Open Pit drill and blast designs, managing reporting routines, providing technical guidance, and enhancing collaboration with Operations and Mining Engineering teams. Key Responsibilities will include: Planning, conducting, and supervising all designs, plans, and analysis related to Drill and Blast. Providing cost-effective, functional and sound designs, ensuring safety and maximisation of ore recovery. Designing, implementing, and reviewing quality control and quality assurance specifications and documentation for drill and blast. Ensuring Drill and Blast design practices conform to industry standards. Monitoring and reconciling drill and blast performance against design parameters, including explosives, drilling rates, and cost. Developing and improving systems and procedures for the drill and blast function, including quality assurance and control processes. Authorising Drill and Blast plans, including blast masters, drill designs and tie-in designs. Providing input to short-term, weekly, and budget plans, and assist with daily production planning. Scoping, leading and implementing site Drill and Blast projects Championing Evolution Mining's Values and commitment to Safety, Environment, Inclusion and Diversity, and Emissions Reduction (Net Zero) About you To be considered for this role, you must hold tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. You must be proficient with mine design and drill and blast software, as well as wall control blasting techniques. You should possess a high degree of safety awareness, proven hazard identification, and risk assessment skills. You will have a strong understanding of safety systems and open pit production mining methods, and have demonstrated business improvement experience with tangible results. While contract management experience is desired, it is not essential. You must excel in understanding and applying work standards, building professional relationships, planning and organizing, delivering results, analysing data, and applying expertise and technology. The ideal candidate is flexible, can follow instructions and procedures, cope with pressures and setbacks, and consistently work safely. You will have demonstrable competency in using mine planning software, MS Office tools, Deswik, and ShotPlus or similar.
