Control Systems Engineer - NPI Date: 18 Jun 2024 Location: Mine FIFO, AU 8/6 roster - FIFO from Perth to the Roy Hill mine Work for an expanding and high performing iron ore business Performance, Retention and Profit Share Bonuses Fly with Qantas with access to QFF points and status credits About the role Our Process Control Systems team is currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer - NPI to join them based at the Roy Hill mine. Reporting to the Superintendent Control Systems you will assist with the overall management of the control systems, ensuring that the systems meet the needs of the operations. Working within a close-knit technical team, you will develop, maintain, and support all plant, control systems and equipment, to drive equipment reliability and operational effectiveness within the Integrated Remote Operations, Water Infrastructure & Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) departments. You will also provide support and technical advice to the site operations and maintenance teams and gain an understanding of the control system logic as it is developed so that commissioning, fault finding, and optimisation time will be minimalised. The ordinary roster for this position is FIFO 8 days on, 6 days off; however there may be times when you are required to work alternative rosters to support coverage across our Port Process Control Systems team. Alternative rosters could include FIFO 4 days on, 3 days off; 4 days on, 3 days off; 8 days on, 6 days off. Duties Provide support for control system Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), HMI, RTU Telemetry and Control Systems Communications Network Work alongside the Project team to ensure that the control system meets the Project Requirements by way of review of proposals, technical solutions, risk identification and mitigation and implementation approach Monitor and manage the plant control system alarms in accordance with alarm philosophy Carry out minor control system designs, programming, testing, and commissioning as required for operations projects including optimisation and debottlenecking Review and comment on changes that require Control System engineering input Provide design assistance in the identification, selection and procurement of equipment or components Use root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and implement practical solutions to problems Skills and experience Experience working in a mining operation in a similar role within water infrastructure/ NPI maintenance and operations, along with experience in project and contractor management Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical, Control System or Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Science) PLC systems experience (Allen-Bradley Control Logix preferred) and large-scale SCADA systems experience (Rockwell Factorytalk preferred) Solid understanding of Remote Terminal Units (RTU) such as Miri, and radio communications network Skills in working with Ethernet networks and fieldbuses Strong troubleshooting, fault finding and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences Mine Facilities Modern, comfortable camp accommodation High quality gourmet food options (vegan, gluten free and healthy options) Large fully equipped gym facility, as well as a gym specifically for females Heated outdoor swimming pool Beach Volleyball court and Golf simulators Village shop and extensive supporting amenities SWIFT in-room entertainment with comprehensive content and own-device casting capability Active social club with community events and activities for employees Lifestyle, Learning and Recreation initiative which provide events for your family About Roy Hill Roy Hill is a world class mining company, leading the way through innovative, integrated mining rail and port operations, to export iron ore safely and efficiently from West Australia's Pilbara region.
