Project Overview: Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source. Job Summary: As Deputy PFE, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Major Responsibilities: On a medium to large (PFE Tier I - Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback. Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline. Coordinates with design on constructability issues. Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials. Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting. Other responsibilities as designated. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Prior experience supervising onsite field engineering teams as Area Lead or Project Field Engineer. Demonstrated experience in large Bechtel construction Projects. Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment. Required Knowledge and Skills: Technical knowledge of all phases of construction in a multi-discipline position Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. Knowledge of the phases of project scoping, planning, and execution relating to the construction of multi-discipline works. Experience managing direct hire self-performed construction. Thorough knowledge of the content and implementation of Quality Policies and programs. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required. Additional Information This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
