You, as a Cloud Development and Operations Engineer, will be passionate about the ongoing DevOps practice and the reality of running a large distributed system that is the Nectar Research Cloud, enabling the next generation of research capabilities across many research disciplines. You will be involved in the building and running of infrastructure for testing and production, the integration of storage and network services, monitoring, as well as helping support, inform, and guide how to best build, deliver, and operate our Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings. Who we are looking for We’re looking for a dedicated and collaborative DevOps engineer who loves automation. You will become familiar with the intricacies of OpenStack, Puppet and CI/CD automation processes (if not already). We value open source and as community players there will be opportunities to contribute upstream to OpenStack and other related projects. Your linux systems administration, problem solving, and communication skills will help you thrive in this role. Strong teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are essential for collaborating with colleagues, other ARDC teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, AI technologies, and Agile methodologies is a plus but not required. What you will be doing Design and implement services and infrastructure to support the Nectar Research Cloud Maintain existing Nectar Research Cloud platforms (Virtualisation, Container Orchestration, APIs, Infrastructure, backups, and more) Participate in the broader Nectar Research Cloud community across Australia and New Zealand Participate in incident response and blameless postmortems Implement and manage configuration changes to ensure system reliability and performance.
