Your new role: Reporting to the Head of Technology Strategy & Architecture, the Manager, Application Engineering will lead a focused team of Application Engineers engaging with our business teams to develop internal, business-facing applications. This will involve identifying and bridging critical gaps in our application landscape, replacing intricate, business-developed applications with streamlined solutions, and mitigating risk by transitioning existing implementations onto a managed ecosystem. This is a new capability for the Fund, so the role will involve definition of initial processes as the team forms. Key duties include but are not limited to: Lead collaboration with stakeholders, business users, citizen developers and others to contribute to developing quality solutions aligned to target architecture and best practices. Oversee a managed program of activity and sprint plan is developed with relevant technical/business owners to ensure the rapid deployment, testing, and continuous improvement of engineered applications. Lead workshops and learning activities towards building application engineering capability across the team, groups, and domains (virtually and in person). Motivate and inspire the team and suppliers by demonstrating commitment to the Fund's values, decision pillars and leadership principles. Hire and develop a high performing, diverse and engaged team who will support the successful delivery of the Fund's strategic ambitions, and are innovative, resilient and equipped to deal with ambiguity. Deliver to the team's annual and quarterly business plan, ensuring the team has adequate resources and culture to meet the near term and strategic goals and operational plans of AustralianSuper - right people, right place, right skills, at the right time. Lead the team to operate and make decisions according to the Fund's Policies, Standards and Procedures. What you'll need: Degree in Computer Science or related area, or equivalent industry experience. 10 years Technology experience. 5 years application development experience. 2 years leading an application team is mandatory. Experience working on projects in financial institutions or other regulated environments is highly desirable. Experience in delivering solutions whilst working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Experience in implementing solutions with the following; Microsoft stack-based technologies including Azure services, .Net and SQL capabilities. Programming and scripting languages including React.js, Python and JavaScript. Advanced, practical knowledge of application development/engineering best practice and industry standards. Exposure across solution architecture, application development and infrastructure technologies are desirable. Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence upwards and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
