Your new Team and Role: As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the examination and testing of conveyor belt and related products and their constituent materials to ensure the production of goods comply with relevant internal, industry, and customer standards as well as ensuring the testing is completed within set timelines. This role is also accountable for developing recommendations for changes to working methods that will minimise risk, cost and wastage; and increase productivity and quality. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate and schedule incoming work to ensure testing is completed in line with relevant standards and specifications and completed in time without causing delays in production. Conduct testing within the scope of the company laboratory capabilities to support manufacturing operation achieve required production outcomes in regards to output, waste, quality, safety, on time delivery and profitability. Coordinate and maintain laboratory equipment by ensuring correct operating instructions are adhered to; perform preventive maintenance; troubleshoot breakdowns and coordinate and organise of servicing and repairs of equipment and maintaining and order stock of consumable supplies. Ensure laboratory and plant equipment is calibrated and calibration records are maintained. Responsible for the accurate reporting, completion, and communication of customer required quality related documentation. Be responsible for monitoring that test procedures and methodologies are being applied per relevant standards with the test laboratory and take corrective action to correct non-conformances. Review test data and records to identify points or trends that may indicate associated errors in testing or faults. Create and update work instructions as required to accurately reflect current work process and procedures. Participate in internal and external quality system audits. Take action and be responsible for finalising corrective actions raised. Monitor, analyse and evaluate existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequence that will minimise risks, costs, wastage, increase yields and productivity, improve quality and consistency of final products. Managing and leading continuous improvement projects by applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives. Establish and report production and process improvement metrics. Consulting and working with other stakeholders, plan and evaluate new projects. Manage complex or critical continuous improvement engineering projects which may include: Managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Monitoring and reporting progress and performance against project plan. Evaluating, organising, and prioritising work within the overall project schedule What we are looking for: Previous experience in a similar role within heavy engineering mining or manufacturing environment (Minimum 4-years) Tertiary level degree qualification in Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial or Materials Engineering) Advanced knowledge of Quality Assurance Systems and Australian Standards. Competent level knowledge of OH&S legislation, relevant codes of practice and regulations. Competent level knowledge of process improvement techniques and tools such as Six Sigma, LEAN or KAIZEN. Self-starter with strong organisation and time management skills. Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, scope, quality and contractual documents. Proven Problem Solving Skills, able to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. What’s in it for you?
