The Systems Engineer will develop new systems and features for hearing-impaired recipients by applying systems engineering best practices. They will lead and contribute to product and system design, manage requirements, oversee feature implementation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they will champion systems thinking, contribute to process improvements, and contribute to Cochlear's intellectual property landscape. The Opportunity Cochlear has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer based in our Macquarie, Sydney office. In this role, the successful Systems Engineer will develop innovative systems and features for hearing-impaired recipients by applying best practices in systems engineering. They will lead cross-functional teams, manage requirements and traceability, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards to deliver high-quality medical devices. Responsibilities include: Own and contribute to systems engineering activities, including product/system design, requirements management, and design reviews. Lead feature teams, ensuring delivery of features through system design, architecture, and implementation oversight. Diagnose and troubleshoot cross-functional integration issues, ensuring thorough testing before commercial launch. Champion systems thinking and contribute to process improvements within the systems engineering discipline. Write quality documentation for regulatory submissions and ensure standards compliance. Strengthen Cochlear's patent portfolio through the contribution of patent disclosures and innovative ideas. What makes this opportunity unique? As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: Required Skills Engineering/Science degree (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems engineering preferred). Post-qualification engineering experience in a R&D environment, preferably with high-tech products. Understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools that are appropriate for the development of medical devices. Ability to communicate effectively (and adjust communication style as needed) with cross-functional teams at various levels. Desired Skills Experience in implant development or in a highly regulated industry, e.g., medical devices. Experience working in Agile product development. Education Engineering/Science degree (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems engineering preferred).
