English Teacher — Edgecliff, Eastern Suburbs

Ascham is an independent girls’ school, and since its foundation in 1886 has educated girls who develop into confident, independent and compassionate young women with a sense of purpose in the world. Ascham is an inclusive, day and boarding school that provides a strong academic program within a warm, welcoming environment. We are seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic teacher able to deliver subjects in English. This is a Permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) teaching role starting 29 July, 2024. Applicants will be able to demonstrate a track record of: Their students producing a range of high-quality work An ability to deliver safe and engaging lessons An understanding of key concepts and the ability to demonstrate practical techniques An awareness and ability to provide and manage a safe work environment Appropriate use of ICT An ability to develop self-efficacy in the students they teach What you have to do to succeed: A tertiary major in English literature and accreditation with NESA Willingness to teach Extension 1 and 2 stage 6 syllabus (highly desirable) Excellent communication and writing skills Excellent ICT skills and willingness to develop ICT skills within an environment where students bring a personal device to school Willingness to carry out other duties as required by the Head of School that fall within the parameters of the role Provides references and Working with Children Documentation Supports the ethos and strategic direction of the school Ability to differentiate for a diverse group of non-selective students Ability to teach to the strengths of girls The successful applicant will enjoy small class sizes, a stimulating work environment in a team of talented professionals, and attractive remuneration and benefits.
