Scheduled to complete the changes in Spring 2024, the hotel will provide an all-encompassing experience of entertainment, leisure, dining, conferencing and unparalleled hospitality. As our Sommelier, you are responsible for all things wine and development of the culture of wine within your venue. You will work alongside a team of wine and beverage professionals and report to the Head Sommelier. This role will have responsibility for executing the Head Sommelier's wine list and assisting with suggestions, ideation and on-going maintenance. You will always be promoting wine experiences and wine sale, while maintaining high standards of processes and procedures throughout the venue and back of house. You should be constantly improving your own knowledge of wine, and mentoring and training all those around you in a both structured and on-the-job capacity. Development of a wine /beverage team, professional culture and being able to train on all things wine is a priority. Recruitment of a like minded wine team also comes under your responsibility. Utilising your professional network, LinkedIn and/or social media to recruit and responding to recruitment drives are part of your role. Qualifications Expert understanding of wine. Expert understanding of spirits and cocktails. At least 3 years experience as a sommelier in a restaurant environment. At least 3 years experience in a CBD/corporate hospitality environment. Ability to fulfill the role of a wine expert communicator in a 150 pax busy restaurant service. Experience in writing and delivering training and development. Ability to understand and manage COGS Understanding of supplier contracts and compliance topics. Intricate knowledge of BOH and FOH venue operations Strategic beverage revenue-driving experience Commitment to undertake growth and development, in line with Sofitel and House Made Hospitality values.
