Seeking a Protection Engineer with one of the best in class Engineering Consultancy, based in Perth. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Protection Engineer / Protection Engineer to join our team in Perth. This role plays a pivotal part in delivering robust protection designs for a variety of technically intricate projects. Your responsibilities will encompass: • Development of protection designs for substations up to 500kV, including comprehensive calculations, detailed reports, relay settings files, and configurations. • Reviewing designs created by peers to ensure quality and compliance. • Execution of FAT's & SAT's using advanced protection relay test sets. • Contribution to the preparation of project tender documents. • Provision of technical guidance and support during construction and commissioning phases. • Acting as the primary technical point of contact for clients (SME). • Preparation of substation secondary designs as required. • Mentoring and training junior engineers within the team. To excel in this role, you will need: • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering • Desirable qualification: CPEng, or eligibility to obtain within 6 months. • Minimum of 5 years of experience for Senior level, or 10 years for Principal level, in a similar role. • Preferably, experience working with power utilities. • Advantageous experience with Western Power and/or TransGrid projects. • Proficiency in protection fundamentals, protection schemes, and IEC61850. • Experience conducting fault studies using power system modelling software (e.g., Digsilent, PSSE, ETAP). • Familiarity with relay configuration software (e.g., SEL Acselerator, Digsi, etc.). • Desirable experience in substation secondary designs up to 500kV. • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. • Exceptional attention to detail and a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
