About the role We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Yard Truck Driver located in our Melbourne Airport depot. Competitive Salary. Competitive Superannuation: 15%. Overtime Rates apply outside of Regular Working Hours. Permanent Full Time: Monday to Friday from 5AM-1:30 PM. Potential weekend & public holiday work What you'll do Coordinating Trailer Movements: You will be responsible for efficiently managing the movement of B-double and semi-trailers within the yard, ensuring timely arrivals and departures according to schedule. Prioritizing Trailer Movements: Corresponding with supervisors to determine trailer priorities and coordinating movements accordingly to meet operational demands. Weigh Bridge Operations: Utilizing the weigh bridge to accurately weigh off every interstate-bound linehaul trailer, ensuring compliance with regulatory weight limits. Safety Monitoring: Reporting and addressing safety issues related to trailer congestion in the yard, including identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures to maintain a safe working environment. Guiding Sub-Contractors: Assisting and guiding sub-contractors or new drivers navigating the yard, providing clear instructions, and ensuring adherence to site safety protocols. Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicating with supervisors and reporting any issues identified during trailer movements, such as drivers speeding or not adhering to site driving rules and regulations. What you'll bring Must have a safety-first approach and demonstrate WHS practices and procedures consistently. Yard truck experience preferred. Must have current MC License and have held for at least 2 years. Have a high attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience with radio communications systems. Experience with Load Restraint Systems & Equipment. Repetitive entering and exiting yard truck. Ability to split trailers/open and close trailer doors. Experience with restraining loads in accordance with National Transport Commission's Load Restraint Guidelines.
