We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our client in Derrimut, Victoria on a fulltime basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible you will play a crucial role in our mission to revolutionize recycling processes and promote sustainability. You will work alongside a dynamic team of engineers and technicians, utilizing your expertise to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our state-of-the-art machinery. Responsibilities include: Specialise in the application of hard facing techniques on carbon and alloy steels using advanced welding technologies, specifically tailored for high-wear applications in shredding machinery. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain precision machining equipment, including CNC machining center's, laser cutters, and conventional lathes, with a strong emphasis on optimizing tool wear and machining processes. Interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings and technical specifications to accurately fabricate and assemble mechanical components and systems. Lead the development and implementation of maintenance procedures, safety checklists, and quality control measures for mechanical operations, applying Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies Experience Required: At least 3 years of industrial experience in mechanical engineering technology, project management with significant exposure to plant and equipment maintenance in heavy industry settings. Trade certification in welding/machining, with expertise in CNC programming and operation, as well as familiarity with CAD/CAM software is desired. Strong background in the recycling industry, with knowledge of material processing technologies and equipment durability enhancement techniques. Excellent organizational and communication skills, with proven ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and lead process improvement initiatives.
