EL1 Project Manager (Construction background) — Canberra Region, Australian Capital Territory

Seeking project managers with project/construction management background and exp. in project delivery and security measures in building projects. Indigeco is assisting a high-profile Federal Government Department in sourcing multiple EL1 Project Managers for a 12-month initial contract with a possibility to extend for an additional 12 months. Only candidates with NV2 clearance are eligible to apply for this position. You must have an understanding in the administration of contracts, building regulation compliance, fee negotiation with specialist contractors, management of allocated budgets, and be able to project manage locally and remotely. The role is to keep the project delivery progressing (on time and budget) whilst protecting the integrity of the design and ensuring full compliance with security measures/regulations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Liaise with the project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved. Manage project scope, risks, and stakeholder expectations to ensure integration of project activities. Manage the design and documentation through the 5 project phases – Initiation/Design and Document/Delivery/HOTO/DLP Manage project variations and changes and maintain the change control process. Coordinate and prepare regular progress reports and communication with key stakeholders. Establish project administration systems, document control and record management processes. Prepare, manage, review and update project documentation including risk and communications plans in conjunction with project team members. Manage project costs through cost estimating, budgeting, monitoring and contingency management. Ensure appropriate quality standards and quality assurance requirements are met. Liaise with suppliers, consultants and contractors as required. Ensure the project schedule is maintained and regularly report progress. Manage the risk management process, including the development of contingency plans, reviewing residual risks and escalating risks that cannot be managed at the project level. Monitor overall progress, use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary. Coordinate handover and completion activities and documents. Identify and document lessons learned during the project. Ensure the project meets its legislative obligations, e.g.: the Workplace Health and Safety Act, and Disability Discrimination Act. KEY SERVICES: Project manage security components of projects as directed; Project manage minor works and construction undertaken by DSD, or posts; Delivery and coordination of security related fit out for domestic and overseas refurbishments and relocations; Develop WHS plans and SWMS as applicable; Ensure NCC compliance for construction works directly undertaken by DSD; Review design documentation and drawings to be developed by a number of external entities. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to liaise with key stakeholders and develop project briefs to deliver security upgrade projects; Good understanding and experience in delivering construction and physical security Infrastructure projects; Manage the procurement of consultants and contractors to deliver security projects; Design reviewed against the project brief; Review design documentation for consistency, usability and implementation of security components; Identify issues before commencing components of the build and re-prioritise if required; Undertake site visits where required; Develop statement of work for external contractors; Draft contract Work Orders; and Demonstrated ability to understand and monitor associated budgets.
