Company : Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd About the Role: Hastings Deering have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Lawyer to join our Legal Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, the primary focus of this role is to provide legal advice and support on a diverse range of legal issues to the Sime Darby Industrial Australasia Group of companies. Although we are looking for someone with inhouse experience in the resources or energy sector, and that the key responsibilities will be supporting the commercial contracting side of the business, additional requirements of the role are general in nature and could include the following: Provide legal advice on a diverse range of matters including; business acquisitions, insurance law, property law, (acquisition and leasing), corporate law and regulation, workplace health and safety, debt recovery, consumer and competition law, intellectual property, technology and privacy law Management of disputes Develop, design and conduct training programs on legal matters and legislative developments to relevant areas of the business Develop and drive compliance and governance strategy and initiatives Lead management initiatives (process methodology, structure and design) of the contracting and legal operations processes About You You will need to satisfy the following minimum requirements: 7 years' post-admission experience Tertiary qualification in Law and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice Current unrestricted Queensland Practicing Certificate Australian Permanent residency Experience advising the Construction or Energy and Resources industry Experience in corporate advisory and governance Experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements (including supply and sale agreements and licenses agreements and deeds) Conduct legal research and problem solve Desirable attributes include: Proven ability to prioritize, manage expectations and build strong working relationships Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen Independent worker with the ability to contribute within a team environment Why Hastings Deering?
