We are seeking a talented and motivated Consultant Wind Engineer to join our consultancy team on a contracting basis, working closely with our client to provide your expertise to the development and implementation of wind energy projects, playing a vital role in shaping the future of renewable energy. Key Responsibilities: Wind Resource Assessment: Conduct comprehensive wind resource assessments using industry-standard methodologies and software tools to characterize wind conditions and optimize energy production estimates for project sites. Site Suitability Analysis: Evaluate potential wind farm sites based on meteorological data, terrain analysis, environmental considerations, and regulatory requirements to identify optimal locations for wind energy development. Energy Yield Assessment: Perform detailed energy yield assessments to quantify the expected energy production of wind projects, considering factors such as turbine performance, wake effects, and site-specific conditions. Turbine Selection and Layout Optimization: Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to select appropriate wind turbine models and optimize turbine layouts to maximize energy capture and project economics. Micrositing and Layout Design: Utilize advanced modeling techniques to microsite individual turbines within wind farms, optimizing turbine placement to minimize wake effects and maximize energy production. Technical Due Diligence: Conduct technical due diligence assessments of wind energy projects, including review of wind resource assessments, energy yield assessments, and design documentation to support project financing and investment decisions. Environmental Impact Assessment: Provide technical expertise on environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for wind energy projects, addressing issues such as noise, shadow flicker, avian impacts, and visual amenity to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with project stakeholders including developers, landowners, regulatory agencies, and local communities to address concerns, facilitate project approvals, and support successful project implementation. Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of wind energy projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external partners to achieve project objectives. Technology Evaluation and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in wind energy development, contributing to the continuous improvement of D'Arcy Weil's wind energy capabilities and service offerings. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, atmospheric science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in wind energy consulting or a related field, with a focus on wind resource assessment, energy yield assessment, and wind farm design. Proficiency in industry-standard wind energy software tools such as WindPRO, WAsP, OpenWind, and WindFarmer. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and communicate technical findings effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed. Contract Details: Duration: 6-12-month contract, with possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
