About the role The Resource Development team provides support and sustains Pilbara Operations, through delivery of Ore Body Knowledge that ensures resources are developed in time, future value opportunities are identified and developed. Resource Geology and Data Management are seeking a data engineer who will have the mission to design, build, and optimize data pipelines, ensuring seamless integration of data sources and efficient data processing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline Resource Development's data utilization using cutting-edge technologies like Databricks and Palantir Foundry. You'll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You'll work Monday to Friday based in Perth which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. Reporting to the Superintendent Geoscientific Data, you will: Data Solution Design: Translate business data requirements into technical specifications. Design data pipelines that extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources. Implementation and Optimization: Develop and implement data pipelines, adhering to best practices and industry standards. Collaborate with data analysts and other team members to ensure smooth data flow. Optimize data processing performance, considering factors like latency, throughput, and cost. Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data quality by implementing validation checks, error handling, and monitoring. Establish data lineage and maintain metadata to track transformations. Adhere to data governance policies and security protocols. Platform Integration: Integrate data solutions with existing systems and platforms. Leverage platform capabilities to enhance data discovery and accessibility. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to deploy and manage data pipelines. Team Collaboration: Work closely with multiple stakeholders to understand their data needs. Provide technical guidance. Foster a collaborative environment focused on data excellence. Share knowledge and mentor data management team. What you'll bring Proven experience as a Data Engineer working with modern coding practices such as continuous integration and deployment, automated testing, etc. Detailed Experience with the Microsoft Data Technology stack including but not limited to: Azure Cloud, ADF, Azure SQL, Data Lake, Data Bricks, Synapse, AAS, Power Platform etc. Detailed Experience in the design and development of large-scale Data Platform and Data Warehousing solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Knowledge and experience of the mining industry would be advantageous but not essential. Our wider Geoscience team is spread across a combination of Perth and Pilbara Resource Development sites. This role is open to both full time and part time applicants.
