About the OPPORTUNITY Our clients defence system provides wide-area surveillance and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force's air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations. Due to an exciting period of growth they are now seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer (Electronics) to be based at Edinburgh Parks, South Australia . This position is responsible for providing firmware development and electronic design services that are accurate, safe, and to approved standards for the development or modification of electrical/electronic equipment, systems, structures and/ or materials. Services include but are not limited to design, development, test, integration, productionisation, installing, qualification and managing electronic/electrical equipment against technical, schedule and cost goals. Relocation will be supported for the successful candidate willing to relocate to South Australia Responsibilities include: Derive requirements for electronic and electrical systems and/or equipment, define test requirements and participate in system design and requirements reviews Develop firmware candidate solutions against requirements, including optimisation, and present solutions in design reviews Undertake functional analysis to identify optimum solutions against set of requirements Develop optimised firmware for electronic system/equipment detail designs and present the designs in design reviews Undertake firmware system and/or equipment detailed design analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined system and/or equipment architecture Translate electronic system/equipment design into a manufactural product and incorporate design for manufacture factors Undertake engineering management of the electronic system and/or equipment manufacture from firmware and hardware implementation Undertake integration and validation of the firmware in electronic system/equipment design including contributing to the integration and validation plans and reports Undertake electronic system and/or equipment qualification activities and analysis of results and contribute to qualification plans and reports Undertake electronic system and/or equipment product assembly, integration, test and shipping including product change management and quality control processes Utilise design capture and analysis tools effectively to produce high quality designs and products including interpretation of analysis results Utilise electronic test tools effectively to undertake test, integration and verification including diagnosing problems and analysing results About you Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Software Engineering or Computer Science Demonstrable experience in a similar role (and within a defence domain - desirable) Effective communication skills and proven ability in technical report writing Experience in developing electronic designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of solutions, their integration, validation and qualification testing Experience in the following technologies, design analysis techniques, development tools: Firmware development and simulation tools, VHDL and FPGA. Familiarity with Atlassian software suite. High speed digital design, electronic CAD tools, simulation and modelling tools, EMIC solutions and compliance Experience in electronics manufacturability, reliability and maintainability (desirable) Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain Must be Australian citizen and ITAR compliant.
