A unique opportunity for an Administration Assistant to provide support to Research Programs Full time, 2 years fixed term contract Base Salary between $64,806 to $71,962 11% superannuation About the Centre The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney is a university-based research centre, dedicated to the rigorous analysis of American foreign policy, emerging technology, economics, politics and culture. The Centre is a national resource, that builds Australia's awareness of the dynamics shaping America and their implications for Australia and solutions for the alliance. USSC's mission is to make discoveries and draw insights with tangible value for Australian policymakers, businesses, scholars, students and the general public, generated by independent, non-partisan, rigorous research, delivered through communication, teaching and outreach. About the opportunity The Administrative Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative support to the Centre's Research Program to ensure all services are provided efficiently to meet the operating needs of the Centre. This would include travel bookings, assisting with events, preparing schedules and guest liaison. The incumbent will use their administrative experience and judgement to problem solve and provide advice on policy and procedures for the delivery of work outcomes. Reporting to the COO, your key responsibilities will be to: general administrative services and operational support to the Research Program help coordinate meetings and roundtables for the Research Team, including guest lists, invites, guest liaison, venue booking, catering and IT facilities arrange and support the Centre's visiting fellow program, including organising travel, preparing schedules, and on the ground support track Research Team events and engagements in team databases and Salesforce. About you: excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in managing a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills working knowledge of higher education institutions is highly desirable critical thinking skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise judgement and to prioritise workload during busy periods.
