EOI - Manager Administrative Review — Brisbane, Brisbane Region

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities The aim of this role is to: Support the Director, Legal Services through providing highly complex and specialised expert advice, and in managing a team of legal professionals. Provide high-level expert specialist legal advice to the Commissioner, Director Legal Services, QBCC's Senior Leadership Team and staff by researching issues or reviewing legislation and policies and offering appropriate strategies and actions by adapting precedents and making significant departures from traditional approaches. Provide technical input and expert advice with administrative review proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and Queensland Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal, judicial review and other proceedings in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. Provide technical input and expert advice in relation to contractual matters, corporate governance risk, commercial matters and providing statutory interpretation advice. Analyse, monitor, report and provide recommendations on trends and issues arising from legal file review, suggesting recommendations for resolution through determining problems, and providing/organising associated training to the team and the organisation. Contributing to the professional development of others including providing clear guidance, constructive feedback, and mentoring. Develop and maintain communication strategies with a view to building professional relationships and creating working partnerships with internal and external service providers and clients. Candidate Attributes Admitted or eligible for admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland (mandatory) Holder of a current practicing certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or able to obtain one (mandatory) Fully compliant with all CPD requirements of the Queensland Law Society (mandatory) In addition, the ideal candidate will have: Proven ability to conduct complex litigation, including appearing as an advocate in tribunals or courts and ability to apply contemporary legal principles and practices, as they relate to administrative law matters, and contract and corporate or commercial law matters. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and consultation skills, including the ability to apply negotiation and mediation skills, and to effectively manage stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and achieve performance measures with proven ability mentoring and supervising legal professionals, with demonstrated previous experience in a similar role. Proven experience in being client and solutions focused, including an ability to deliver high quality legal services in a professional way.
