Your new role We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Administrative Law & Legislation team as a Lawyer on a full-time, ongoing basis. Reporting to the Managing Principal Lawyer, the Lawyer assists with the provision of legal advice on all administrative law and legislation matters affecting or involving IBAC. Set within a small and supportive administrative law and legislation team, this role offers immediate exposure to topical administrative law issues. The work ranges from considering legislative reform proposals and implementation, to advising on best practice decision making, complex statutory interpretation, information use and disclosure, privacy and much more. Duties include: Provide legal advice in relation to administrative law matters, legislation and public interest disclosures affecting or involving IBAC to other business units within IBAC as necessary. Assist in the preparation of inspections, reports and other advice in relation to IBAC's Victoria Police Oversight role. Consider, assess and respond to issues concerning IBAC's statutory and compliance obligations under the IBAC Act or any other laws. Draft high-level reports and maintain policies, procedures and systems applicable to IBAC. Additional duties are set out in the position description. Our requirements / Your skill set We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities: Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in administrative law, public law or legislation will be of benefit.
