Product Design (UI/UX) Internship, Summer 2024/2025 (Sydney) — The Rocks, Sydney

MongoDB Australia is looking for a Product Design Intern to help us create user experiences that are not only easy to use - they are wanted and enjoyed by our customers too. As an intern, you will collaborate closely with Senior Product Designers to gain practical product design experience. You will determine and advocate for user needs, make design decisions, and balance those with business objectives and engineering trade-offs, to create user experiences that will make an impact in our data visualisation product, MongoDB Atlas Charts. You will develop an understanding of MongoDB customers who visualise data, through user feedback, competitive analysis, and common behaviour patterns. You will collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers and stakeholders to discover, define, design and develop user experiences for MongoDB Atlas Charts, and partner with the Charts team to develop and implement your work. Responsibilities: Evaluate competitors and related solutions in the data visualisation market Generate ideas with your cross functional team through design workshops Iterate your solutions from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes based on feedback from your team and users Conduct research to test assumptions and validate design decisions Deliver your work to build with relevant documentation and specifications Present your final project to your team and stakeholders Who we are looking for: In the process of completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or certificate, in Design, IT, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Digital Media Design, Engineering, or currently studying related fields Interested in prototyping, designing, testing, implementing, and evaluating user experiences for native and locally installed software applications Familiar with usability heuristics and best practices in UX Design and Visual Design Experience with prototyping and can create process diagrams and low-fidelity wireframes Experience with UI design and can create high fidelity mockups and component specifications You are beginning to learn the different research methods to test assumptions and validate design decisions Have a portfolio of work, or relevant project, that highlights your design deliverables, design process, role on the project, and includes research What you'll find at MongoDB: Authentic Culture: A workplace where you are encouraged to bring your whole self to work, we believe that Embracing the Power of Differences is the best way to broaden our own perspectives and foster innovation.
