Disability Support Worker. Casual - Wollongong — Wollongong Area, Illawarra

About the role In the role of a Disability Support Worker, you will offer personalised, active support to individuals with disability. Your responsibilities will vary depending on each client's needs, but prior experience in personal care, manual handling, and behaviour support will be greatly valued. Due to the nature of these Supported Independent Living (SIL) services, you will be required to work flexibly across a 24/7 roster and pick up a range of shifts including active night shifts, sleepovers and weekends. Key Responsibilities Empower our clients to live independently and achieve their goals by implementing and monitoring individual support, behaviour support, and health care plans with a person-centred approach Track and document an individual’s progress through detailed note-keeping using basic technology and software on mobile devices and desktops Supporting participants with psychosocial and physical disability Confidently transport clients in a van to encourage and support community access Skills & Experience A commitment to supporting and advocating the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disability through strong communication including nonverbal communication, flexibility and adaptability as well as behaviour management skills A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 (or willingness to obtain) Current unrestricted driver's licence and access to reliable vehicle (minimum Third Party Insurance) To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
