Role Summary As a Legal Counsel based in Sydney, you will be an integral part of the corporate legal team, supporting operations in Australia. You will handle matters related to contractual and general commercial law, marketing and trade promotion law, franchising law, and consumer law. This role involves working closely with the business team to ensure compliance with applicable laws, and collaborating closely with the legal team in China to gain valuable support and international experience. Key Responsibilities Draft, maintain, and update legal templates (e.g., agreements, terms and conditions) for the distribution business. Conduct legal day-to-day activities, including supporting commercial and legal negotiations with dealers and suppliers. Provide constructive and solution-oriented legal support to all company departments. Analyse and communicate legislative and jurisprudential developments proactively, offering guidance on responses. Work collaboratively in a team, actively sharing knowledge and experience. Requirements Bachelor degree in Law, and certification as a legal professional with authorisation to practise law in Australia. 4 years of post-qualification experience as an in-house legal counsel or practising lawyer, with a focus on relevant legal areas. Ideally someone who worked at lawyer then branched out as an in-house legal counsel. In-depth understanding and practical experience in commercial and corporate law, contract law, vehicle dealership/distribution law, and consumer protection law. Exceptional ability to communicate complex legal information clearly to diverse audiences, along with strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.’ Knowledge of competition/antitrust law is advantageous.
