About the role A new, exciting role for an Associate Engineer in a permanent, full-time capacity has risen within the Technology Services and Commercial division of Coles. The primary objective for this role is to support the evolution, and maintenance of the Quality Engineering capability within a business unit. Your key responsibilities will include: Support engagements / project delivery requirements for quality engineering. Contribute to documentation of a quality test case that is repeatable without reliance on the original author. Work to set execution rates of test cases to meet the agreed outcome as per the committed timeframe. Participate in defect lifecycle, authoring, triaging and retesting (as required). Build an understanding of the product on a technical and functional level, understanding the delivery context. Contribute as a member of a highly capable, passionate, and motivated engineering team. Deliver against a defined pragmatic QE solution design including test automation and continuous testing automation test that optimise delivery quality and efficiency. Utilise a prescribed Risk Based Testing Approach. Contribute to the quality engineering capability, frameworks, and patterns as a foundation for supporting business applications. Scope includes Test Automation, Continuous Testing, Test Data Fabrication/Creation, and Early Security Testing. Responsible for working with project stakeholders and delivering to a quality engineering solution design for test automation and continuous testing (inclusive of DevOps). Responsible for elaborating test automation (code) according to the agreed standards and project needs. Advocate on all quality facets to the Build team. Leverage prescribed DevOps tools and techniques including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD to enable continuous testing. Contribute to an intelligent test case design through techniques such as pair-wise analysis, that maximises coverage while minimising effort. In addition to the above, you will also be responsible for Quality Engineering enablement and delivery and stakeholder management. About you and your skills: Qualification in software development with an understanding of digital products in an agile environment. Contributions to technical solutions (coding and testing). Understanding of the technology's broader operational environment (i.e., processes, procedures, associated toolsets, operating systems, etc.). Awareness of Manual and Automated testing. Demonstrated experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python, C#, JavaScript, Ruby, Java etc) Understanding of the agile development process and developing code in alignment with coding standards and business processes. Understanding of Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD). Conversant with DevOps including IaC for continuous testing purposes using tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins or AzureDevOps. Awareness of engineering principles, products, and services in a hybrid cloud environment, with a technical background. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate for a desired "quality" outcome. Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Systems or Software engineering related qualification Experience in code development in one or more languages.
