About the Position: The Electronics Engineering Team Leader will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for leading the electronics team in the creation and development of product concepts. This role involves leading the development of next-generation products, managing projects and resources, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Direct reports include the Electronics Engineer and Senior Electronics Engineer. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate with senior management to define the strategic direction of the electronics engineering department. Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of electronics engineers. Technical Responsibilities: Use software to perform circuit analysis, run simulations, create schematic drawings, and produce wiring diagrams. Implement modifications to existing designs and prototypes based on performance in quality tests and customer feedback. Project and Resource Management: Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel and equipment, to optimize project outcomes. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the electronics engineering workflow. Provide senior management with regular updates on project progress, resource needs, and potential challenges. Hardware Design: Oversee the creation of detailed and comprehensive schematic diagrams for electronic systems. Conduct thorough analysis of schematic designs, considering factors such as signal integrity, power distribution, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Programming: Oversee the development of embedded software/firmware for microcontrollers. Design and implement communication protocols for data exchange between electronic components and systems. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for embedded software. PCB Layout: Oversee the PCB layout process, optimizing component placement, signal routing, and thermal management. Prototyping: Lead the creation of hardware prototypes, iterating design cycles to refine and improve electronic systems. Essential Criteria: Australian citizenship due to required security clearance. Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline. At least 10 years of experience in electronic design and development, including hardware and firmware. Experience with microcontrollers (preferably Microchip), designing PCB layouts with Altium Designer, and using GIT source control. Knowledge of product compliance within the automotive and military markets. Competence in C programming language and in-depth knowledge of circuit design, modeling, and simulation.
