Your next opportunity An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects Team and provide engineering services as Boral continues on our Good to Great journey. You will primarily be accountable for investigating, designing, evaluating and providing effective engineering support to the Major Capital Projects Project Managers. With a focus on front end mechanical design and scoping work, you will support the design and delivery of new capital equipment across Boral's construction materials portfolio including equipment for concrete plants, asphalt plants and cement facilities including alternative fuel systems. Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer, this is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at Berrima NSW. Your day will involve: Supervising a team of mechanical engineers, draftsmen and contractors allocated on a project requirements basis. Estimating, evaluation costing and design as well as monitoring and reporting on progress. Problem investigation and analysis Preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents through to pre-qualification of suppliers and evaluation of technical tenders Project management for studies and investments focused on design aspects for small scope projects Co-ordination of technical resources up to project handover Design of transport equipment for material handling and logistics concepts for transport, storage and production Assessment and approval of drawings from internal and external sources Site investigation - definition of necessary measures in co-ordination with a nominated plant responsible for process requirements Manage site mechanical investigations, reporting and compliance audits Mechanical Project Implementation including Site Supervision of contractors What are we looking for? Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated experience on heavy industrial sites Knowledge of process equipment, handling systems and operating conditions and typical design problems of old equipment Experience in design of industrial investment projects and knowledge of equipment/service costs, material handling Demonstrated ability to supervise contractors Ability to troubleshoot and commission industrial mechanical projects, resolve engineering issues and provide mechanical technical support to others Proficient in the use of design software (AUTOCAD, INVENTOR) Experience in development of CFT documents Membership of Engineers Australia or other governing bodies or ability to register is desirable but not essential.
