About the role Shark Dive Xtreme (SDX) Shark Dive Guides are responsible for coordinating and conducting introductory SCUBA sessions for our customers (both experienced and non-experienced divers) in our 2.2 Million Litre Oceanarium. You will also be responsible for assisting with operational needs of SDX including equipment and general maintenance as well as administrative duties. The role requires ability to work weekends & public holidays. The roster may vary depending on the demands of the business. You will report directly to the Dive Operations Supervisor and may also be required to assist the curatorial team where needed performing a variety of tasks related to the area. Main Responsibilities Running of Shark Dive Xtreme daily operations, deliver high quality customer experiences on a consistent basis to ensure high level of customer retention & recommendation. Adhere to all relevant dive industry & company standards at all times. Delivering safety briefs, completing in-water skills session to a very high standard while ensuring the safety of guests, staff and animals at all times. To be adaptable to daily operational challenges to deliver the safest & most enjoyable experience possible. Ensure the completion of accurate and up to date records for dive logs, customer medical declaration forms and associated matters. Responsible for continually high levels of cleanliness and hygiene of all diving equipment and associated areas. Adhere to a tight schedule ensuring the efficient and seamless transition of divers through the Shark Dive Xtreame experience, clear communication when necessary with all other departments & Operations Manager. Assisting all other SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium departments according to operational needs. Assist in maintenance of all equipment necessary (Scuba, first aid, compressor, office & general equipment found throughout SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium) to help ensure safety standards are met & any problems are minimised. About You Minimum 1 year experience conducting both Open water Courses and Introductory dives. You thoroughly enjoy working as a team however can work equally as well autonomously and enjoy helping others enjoy the wonders of the underwater world. You have a very high standard of safety and an appreciation for animal welfare. Hold minimum Active Open Water Instructor status: SDI/SSI/PADI Hold a Current Occupational Diver Medical AS2299. Hold a Current First Aid, CPR & Oxygen Therapy Provider Certificates. Equipment maintenance, air filling, and compressor operations are a plus but not essential.
